Street Gypsieslaganas tips

  • Every night on the strip you’ll be offered various items from street gypsies, ranging from sunglasses, roses, hats balloons, the lot. If you politely decline and carry on walking, most will give up and move onto the next holiday maker.
  • However be warned, plenty of revelers have had their bags, wallets, purses and mobile phones stolen. Some use children to distract and draw your attention away from your belongings while others will slowly unzip your shorts or bag, so be careful. You have been warned.


  • The tap water can result in a bad stomach so please stick to bottled water.
  • Also be drink to sure plenty of water, particular during the day, if we can make any importance of our Laganas tips, it’d be this one!


  • Everyone’s here to have a good time, just be warned of the cheap alcohol available and what drinking too much too quickly can do.
  • In the morning remember to drink plenty of water. Combine dehydration with the hot weather that is to be expected, lack of water could seriously damage your health.
  • Always drink in moderation, but a good way to save on the drinks out is to have a few a drinks before hand in your rooms.

The Weather

  • This may seem like an obvious point to make, but the sun and heat can seriously impact upon your health. So make sure to drink plenty of water, even more so if you’re feeling slightly worse for wear and be sure to put on plenty of sunscreen and reapply according to the directions on the bottle (every hour should do the trick) .
  • This is another one of our Laganas tips that’s important and probably goes hand in hand with the water, if we’re being honest with ourselves, just be careful out there guys!


  • You need to be extremely careful here, as if you have an accident you more than likely won’t be covered on your travel insurance.
  • We highly recommend getting around on foot.
  • The roads aren’t of the quality in the UK and remember to drive on the right.
  • Helmets aren’t mandatory but we highly recommend wearing one and the Greek police are stamping down on those not wearing one (fines can be up to £270 so it’s worth wearing a helmet).
  • If you’re still interested, they’re about €20 a day.

The Strip

  • Remember to be careful as traffic will be present on the main road of Laganas, be particular careful at night when you may have had a few alcoholic drinks. There are paths so to be safe, stick to the pavement.
  • We do see safety as being key, whether that’s for drinking plenty of water and trying not to get too sun burnt or staying away from areas that could potentially be troublesome, so another one of our Laganas tips to take into consideration.

Cigarettes/Tobacco/Alcohol Allowance

  • Beer – 110 Litres.
  • Wine (not sparkling) – 90 Litres.
  • Spirits and other liqueurs over 22% – 10 Litre.
  • Fortified wine (e.g. Port), sparkling wine and alcoholic drinks up to 22% – 20 Litres.
  • 800 Cigarettes.
  • 400 Cigarillos.
  • 200 Cigars.
  • 1KG Tobacco.
